BS Event: Java is what you sip with dessert

"Sure, the Boyle Software team can put together world-class back-end services and user interfaces, but can they prepare a gourmet meal?" That's the question we set out to answer for this year's Holiday event. Under the guidance of our hosts at the Institute for Culinary Education, we stepped into a world where apps are what you eat before the main course and java is what you sip with dessert.

After gathering for drinks and Hors d'Oeuvres, our group donned aprons and hats and got down to business. Some of the more seasoned team members knew the ropes from our previous visit to ICE a few years ago. For others, it was their first time wielding professional kitchen tools. We divided up into groups – Uwe, Svetlana and Gerald churned out homemade pasta for the first course (pappardelle with butternut squash). Florent, Julien and Ahmit looked like pros as they prepped the veggies that went along with the main course (lemon-pistachio crusted chicken breast). Last, but not least – dessert: Lane manned the griddle, Mike sliced fruit and Megan handled whipping the cream for the crepes stuffed with apples and pears in caramel sauce.

With the hard work finished, we sat down to relax and try out the dinner we prepared. We may not be ready for "Iron Chef" any time soon, but with some help from the ICE staff, we were stars in the kitchen for an evening - and we welcomed a rare chance to meet, talk and celebrate another successful year.
