"Rarely do you see an organization as worthy of your support as the Global Business Coalition (GBC)", says Dan Boyle, president of Boyle Software. "We are proud to announce our modest contribution to the GBC for 2010."
With an inspiring staff, a humanitarian mission and offices in Beijing, Johannesburg, Moscow, Nairobi, New York and Paris, the GBC is well positioned to battle these three deadly diseases on a global scale: HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria.
According to John Tedstrom, president of the GBC, "Coalition member companies are at the heart of a movement that's making global and local health action smarter. Here's why GBC exists: We can end HIV/AIDS, TB, and malaria faster if we activate businesses as disease-fighters and if we join the forces of companies, governments, and nonprofits together in a strategically focused and coordinated fashion.
"And many companies are part of this movement, in various ways. The Coalition includes over 200 companies and several major nonprofits--and is connected to a smart network of governments, NGOs, and multilaterals.
"GBC serves as a hub for collaboration--joint problem-solving, strategy co-creation, knowledge-sharing, and collective action. By joining forces, and getting business actively engaged in turning business assets into disease-fighting assets, we can end the devastation of HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis, and malaria faster."
The Coalition was created in 2001 after Kofi Annan, then Secretary-General of the United Nations, called for more business involvement in fighting AIDS. The Coalition grew out of a smaller organization called the Global Business Council, whose creation was spurred by Nelson Mandela in 1997.
The GBC is at the heart of a movement that's closing gaps and increasing impact in the fight against HIV/AIDS, TB and malaria. It's a movement that will end these diseases faster. The GBC is turning business assets into disease-fighting assets. The GBC is making global health action smarter by joining the corporate sector, governments and civil society together in common cause.
