Columbia House: The Next Phase

14 Oct, 2004

Columbia House asked Boyle Software to supply a team of programmers to help support and maintain the club member sites and to help realize its challenging marketing goals, which were set for the next phase of the evolution of the CH website. Club Members will soon enjoy recommendations based on previous purchases they made. There will be other major site upgrades, which at this point we are unable to disclose. Our team will also add new functionality that will help Columbia House to better communicate with third-party service providers.

On the frontend we help create new pages for the Columbia House website and build templates for HTML emails, which inform club members about new releases and specials.

We are using Informix, weblogic application server, DB2 database and Java J2EE architecture for this project.

About Columbia House

The Columbia House Music Club was first launched in 1955. Over the past 50 years, Columbia House has grown to become the world’s largest direct marketer of not only music, but DVDs and videos.

Throughout the company’s rich history, an enthusiastic embrace of emerging technology has become an enduring corporate trademark. From cassettes and CDs to videos and DVDs, Columbia House has created a club that has consistently met the public’s demand for the latest advancement in entertainment products.

On June 21, 2002, Blackstone Capital Partners acquired a majority interest in Columbia House. The original partners, Sony Music Entertainment and Warner Music continue to own minority interests in the company.
